Routine vehicle maintenance is crucial, but if you are a novice when it comes to your car, it can get confusing. Use your owner’s manual to track important service milestones, and schedule routine maintenance at Bob Thomas Ford so that our experts can keep you on track. You can also use our common service term glossary below to stay informed.
Oil change: This is the most common and arguably most important service that your vehicle will regularly need. Changing your oil ensures your engine has the proper lubrication it needs to keep from overheating.
Tire rotation: With each oil change, you should also rotate your tires. Doing so will ensure even wear and extend the longevity of your tires.
Tire pressure: Tire pressure refers to the inflation of your tires. Newer vehicles have built-in tire pressure monitors that will tell you when your tires are losing pressure. You can check this manually if your vehicle does not have such a system.
Fluids: This is a catch-all for other important fluids besides engine oil. We will check these fluids, which include power steering, antifreeze, wiper fluid, and coolant, during your routine maintenance and top them off as necessary.
Wiper blades: Your windshield wiper blades ensure you have proper visibility in all weather scenarios. Over time, the blades will wear out and begin to leave streaks. At this point, you will need to replace them.
Spark plugs: Spark plugs help your engine run efficiently and will eventually need to be replaced. Be sure to ask our technicians when you will need to replace yours.
Air filter: Your vehicle has a cabin air filter and engine air filter. The cabin air filter ensures you get fresh air inside your car and is easy to replace yourself. The engine air filter can be more challenging to change yourself, so let our technicians change this one for you to keep your vehicle’s engine clean.
